I recently made a rather hefty purchase, a Wacom Tablet of A4 format (you think you know how big it is, but then it turns out even bigger

). Getting a tablet is something Ive wanted to do practically since I started doing colouring and inking on the computer. The thing that stopped me was basically the price; a good tablet is really expensive.
Its vital though, especially since I also started doing 3D work. To make a model really work you need good textures. And painting textures with a mouse is not impossible, but not very effective either (and I really dont have the patience to do that sort of thing with a mouse).
Having gotten a good job with a pay check I just couldnt resist anymore. Ive got to say its worth every penny. Before, when I was still working with a mouse, inking the pencil line-art took hours, and so did the colouring. And forget about making any strokes that are so natural with a pencil.
I like drawing, but the process of making my sketches presentable was anything but fun. Now, its fast and fun again. Im never going back to doing it with a mouse again. My first experiments inking and colouring with the tablet cemented that fact for me. And with a little more practice Ill probably shift my whole drawing process to the digital format.
